Ministry of Transport Dismisses False Claims, Confirms Services Operating Normally

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Somalia has strongly denied false and misleading reports circulating on various platforms that wrongly link the Ministry to alleged disruptions in its official duties and public services.

Specifically addressing claims related to the issuance of vehicle license plates, the Ministry confirms that there are no obstacles or suspensions affecting this service. The vehicle plate issuance process is operating smoothly and without interruption.

The Ministry further clarifies that these fabricated reports are being deliberately spread with the intention of undermining a directive issued by national security agencies concerning the mandatory use and installation of official vehicle license plates.

It has also emerged that certain individuals are being financially incentivized to disseminate this misinformation, acting against the interests of the Somali people and seeking to erode public trust and obstruct the implementation of lawful security measures.

The Ministry emphasizes that the use of official license plates serves the public interest by strengthening overall security, improving vehicle monitoring, and preventing criminal acts that endanger civilians. Official plates are a legally recognized security feature that plays a vital role in safeguarding lives and property.

Additionally, the Ministry categorically dismisses claims of internal disputes, affirming that all departmental operations are proceeding in a coordinated, orderly, and lawful manner. Reports alleging internal conflict are entirely unfounded and intended solely to mislead the public.

The Ministry has called on security agencies to immediately investigate those involved in spreading the false information and to ensure that anyone found complicit in acts that threaten national security and public order is held accountable under the law.

In conclusion, the Ministry urges Somali citizens to remain vigilant against unverified information and to rely exclusively on official Ministry channels for accurate and trustworthy updates.
