Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia commends the success of a planned operation carried out this morning by the heroic Somali National Army (SNA) in the area of Warta Eey Duure, approximately 30 kilometres north of Xudur town in the Bakool region, which resulted in the killing of a senior Al-Shabaab leader.
The slain militant, identified as Abdullahi Abukar Ali, served as the group’s head of finance, responsible for managing funds extorted from civilians and coordinating the recruitment of child soldiers. He was a key operative who had long operated in Bakool under Al-Shabaab’s control and was among the most sought-after figures in the group.
This precision operation has eliminated a significant threat and dealt a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s operational network in the region. The Ministry of Defence reaffirms its unwavering commitment, alongside the Somali people and international partners, to consistently dismantle the military, financial, and extremist capabilities of the group until the country is fully liberated.
