Baidoa, Somalia – Dr. Ali Haji Aden, Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government of Somalia, recently undertook a visit to various health centers in Baidoa. The administrative hub of the Southwest State played host to this crucial assessment, where Dr. Aden engaged with local health authorities and staff.
During his visit, Dr. Aden met with the heads and personnel of the Ministry of Health in the Southwest State, led by Mr. Mohamed Osman Haji, the Minister of Health for the Southwest region, and the director general of the same ministry. The discussions centered on ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services and find sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the health sector.
Among the key locations visited were the new Center of the Ministry of Health in the South West Region, the city’s general hospital, and the old Medicine Store. Additionally, Dr. Aden inspected a factory nearing completion, which will play a vital role in healthcare provision. Notably, the recent delivery of oxygen supplies to Baidoa was also assessed, along with the vaccine storage facilities managed by the South West State.
The Minister’s itinerary extended to the district hospital overseen by SOS (Somali Organization for Services), as well as the Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC), which recently completed construction. Dr. Aden actively listened to reports from the authorities and staff at these centers, identifying critical challenges that require targeted solutions.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Aden commended the dedicated efforts of healthcare professionals in South West Somalia. He emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to improving health systems at the grassroots level, from villages to districts, across the entire country.
