Dhusomareeb, Galmudug State – Members of the Media Council of Somalia arrived in Dhusomareeb, the capital of Galmudug State, on Friday, where they were warmly welcomed by a high-level delegation. The delegation, led by the Minister of Information of Galmudug, included directors from various ministries and local journalists. The Media Council’s visit marks the beginning of a three-day workshop aimed at enhancing journalism skills and professionalism in the region.

The Media Council team, which included Hinda Dahir Jama and Senior Advisor Abdiqani Abdullahi, was received at the airport with enthusiasm. Hinda Dahir Jama, a member of the council, expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Information and his delegation for the warm reception. She emphasized the council’s commitment to improving the capacity and professionalism of journalists across Somalia.

“We are here to conduct a media workshop focused on enhancing journalism skills,” said Jama. “This initiative is part of our broader mission to strengthen the media landscape in Somalia, and such trainings will continue to ensure journalists are equipped with the necessary tools to excel in their profession.”

The workshop, which will run for three days, is designed to provide journalists with practical skills and knowledge to improve their reporting standards. The Media Council of Somalia has been actively working to elevate the quality of journalism in the country, and this event is a testament to their ongoing efforts.

Director Hassan Fantastic from the Ministry of Information of Galmudug praised the Media Council for their dedication to improving journalism standards in Somalia. “We are grateful for the Media Council’s visit to Galmudug State and their commitment to supporting our journalists,” he said. “This workshop is a valuable opportunity for our journalists to learn and grow, and we urge all participants to take full advantage of the experience and lessons offered.”

The Media Council’s visit to Dhusomareeb shows the importance of collaboration between federal and state-level institutions in fostering a robust and professional media environment in Somalia. As the workshop unfolds, participants are expected to gain valuable insights and skills that will contribute to the advancement of journalism in Galmudug and beyond.

This initiative is a significant step toward strengthening the media sector in Somalia, ensuring that journalists are well-prepared to meet the challenges of their profession and contribute to the country’s development through informed and ethical reporting.
