MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Hormuud Salaam Foundation has launched a critical emergency water distribution campaign targeting drought-stricken communities in the Mudug region. The relief operations are specifically focused on the heavily impacted areas of Dagaari and Hilmo, where severe water shortages have threatened both civilian populations and their livestock.
Deploying high-capacity water tankers, the foundation has successfully delivered life-saving water supplies directly to these remote settlements. Local elders and community leaders in Dagaari and Hilmo welcomed the rapid intervention, noting that the immediate delivery of water is essential for sustaining the local pastoralist economy and preventing the further displacement of rural families.
Officials coordinating the Hormuud Salaam Foundation’s relief efforts utilized the deployment to issue a broader national appeal. They are actively urging other corporate entities, diaspora members, and humanitarian organizations to mobilize their resources and scale up similar water trucking initiatives across affected regions to avert a deepening crisis.
