Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) in Mogadishu, where he was received by the Agency’s Chairman, H.E. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle.
During the visit, the Minister toured SODMA’s early warning and humanitarian monitoring systems and commended the agency’s effective work in responding to drought conditions and supporting vulnerable communities affected by climate-related shocks.
Minister Abdisalam underscored the need for a unified national coordination framework to accelerate relief efforts and further strengthen cooperation with international partners to protect and save the lives of at-risk Somali citizens.
He also called on Somalis at home and abroad to demonstrate national solidarity and actively support ongoing relief and rescue operations, stressing that collective action is critical to addressing the humanitarian impacts of recurrent droughts.
