Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Dialogue and National Unity

Mogadishu, SONNA — The Federal Government of Somalia has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national unity and strengthening an inclusive consultative process, emphasizing that the platform for dialogue with the Future Council remains open, broad, and constructive.

In a statement, the Federal Government stressed that, in line with its constitutional responsibility to preserve the unity of the country and the cohesion of the Somali people, it has taken concrete steps to ensure a meaningful and inclusive dialogue process. A Federal Government Technical Committee was established to create a broad platform for engagement, which included consultations with intellectuals and representatives from various sectors of society.

The statement noted that several meetings were held between the Federal Government Technical Committee and the Future Council Technical Committee, during which all technical procedures for the dialogue meeting were agreed upon. These efforts were intended to ensure a well-prepared, orderly, and inclusive consultative process.

However, the Government expressed regret over the incident that occurred on February 1, 2026, as well as delays involving some Future Council delegates, which affected the planned proceedings.

Despite these challenges, the Federal Government reiterated its firm commitment to resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue, consensus, and mutual respect, guided by the common national interest. The Government emphasized that this approach takes into account the country’s humanitarian situation and the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The Federal Government respectfully and confidently invited all relevant stakeholders to participate in the dialogue process, underscoring that inclusive engagement is essential to strengthening peace, unity, and Somalia’s political future.

The statement concluded with optimism that the forthcoming conference will be fruitful and expressed hope that all parties will engage in the process in good faith for the benefit of the nation.
