Mogadishu (SONNA) — Nearly 130 families living in Afbarwaaqo, Qoriweyn, and surrounding villages in eastern Mudug have received emergency assistance amid severe drought conditions affecting parts of the region.
The aid package—comprising food supplies, drinking water, and livestock—was donated by businessman Khadar Nuur Mohamed, an intellectual based in Mogadishu, and was delivered at a time when communities are facing acute humanitarian needs due to prolonged drought.
Local authorities in Afbarwaaqo, alongside traditional elders from the affected areas, welcomed the assistance and expressed gratitude, noting that it arrived at a critical moment as livelihoods have been severely strained.
They also called on other business leaders and charitable organizations to follow suit and support vulnerable families still struggling with the impacts of drought in eastern Mudug.
