MOGADISHU, Somalia – The State Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, MP Omar Ali Abdi, formally welcomed a high-level delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Hassan Omar Mohamed, at Aden Adde International Airport today.
The Djiboutian Defense Minister arrived in the capital to participate in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF). The Federal Republic of Somalia is currently hosting this significant regional gathering, which brings together defense leadership from across East Africa to deliberate on security challenges and strategic cooperation.
The arrival of the Djiboutian delegation highlights the importance of the summit, which serves as a key platform for member states to align on the 2026 operational roadmap and review the regional security landscape. The reception at the airport reflects the enduring brotherly ties between Somalia and Djibouti, as well as their shared commitment to strengthening the collective security framework of the region.
The ministerial session represents the culmination of the meetings held in Mogadishu this week, following the deliberations of the technical experts and Chiefs of Defense Staff.
