Mogadishu (SONNA) – In June 2022, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Mr. Hamse Abdi as the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia. Shortly thereafter, Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre established the Danqaran Government, which unveiled its comprehensive program to the Somali Parliament and the people. The Danqaran Government is built upon six key pillars:

  1. Liberation and Security: Focused on reclaiming territories from extremist groups.
  2. Justice and Judiciary: Strengthening legal institutions and ensuring justice for all.
  3. United Somalia: Promoting national unity and cohesion.
  4. Economic Self-Sufficiency: Enhancing economic growth and stability.
  5. Social Affairs Development: Improving social services and welfare.
  6. Somalia at Peace with the World: Engaging in international diplomacy and cooperation.

The Somali Parliament expressed unanimous confidence in the Dan-Qaran government, signaling its commitment to achieving national goals. Over the past two years, the government has achieved significant milestones:

  1. Progress in the War Against Extremism: The fight against the Khawarij has seen substantial gains, liberating cities and districts that were under their control for years.
  2. Debt Forgiveness: Somalia’s debt was forgiven after meeting specific conditions.
  3. Integration into East Africa’s Economic Market: Somalia joined the economic market in the region.
  4. Lifting of Arms Embargo: The successful completion of the process led to the removal of the arms embargo.
  5. UN Security Council Seat: Somalia secured a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

The Dan Qaran Government’s achievements extend beyond security and diplomacy. It has also focused on strengthening the armed forces, developing the economy, and enhancing social services. Tonight, various government agencies will present their performance over the past two years, with heads of ministries in attendance.
