MOGADISHU – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, held its weekly meeting where it strongly condemned the recent aggressive attack by the Israeli administration on the state of Qatar. The council also formally approved a new law that will regulate the quality and safety of meat in Somalia.
In a strong diplomatic statement, the Council of Ministers announced that the Somali government stands firmly with the government and people of Qatar. The council explicitly stated its clear opposition to any form of aggression and violations that go against all international laws and conventions. This follows previous statements of solidarity from various Somali officials regarding the attack in Doha.
In a separate but equally significant development, the Council approved the Law on the Inspection and Protection of Meat. Submitted by the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Pasture, this legislation is designed to ensure the hygiene, safety, and quality of meat products for the Somali public. The approval of this law is a key step toward establishing stronger public health standards and ensuring food safety across the country.
