Building a community with a shared future for mankind is the need of the survival and development of human society. On September 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the 70th UN General Assembly in New York. He pointed out: “In today’s world, all countries are interdependent and shared a common future. We should renew our commitment to the purpose and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, build a new model of international relations featuring mutually beneficial cooperation, and create a community with a shared future for mankind.” The scientific thesis of building a community with a shared future for mankind is based on the in-depth thinking of where will humans living on the same planet go to and how the world will develop.

In recent years, people have asked more and more questions, what’s wrong with the world? The traditional and non-traditional security challenges, such as the Iraq war, the Syrian question, the Libyan civil war, the Afghan war, the refugee question, the food security, the terrorist threat, the separatist forces, the racial discrimination, the populism, the unilateralism, the trade protectionism, as well as the climate change, the natural disaster and so on, are bewildering and threatening human beings survival and development.

The pandemic of COVID-19 in the world makes people aware of the challenges and threats that are facing. It is imperative to building a community with a shared future for mankind. The international community should take the initiative to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Building a community with a shared future is the inexhaustible source of the development and progress of human society. The core of building a community with a shared future for mankind is, politically, we should respect each other, consult on an equality, and resolutely abandon the Cold War mentality and power politics; uphold dialogue to resolve disputes on security, resolve differences through consultation, respond to traditional and non-traditional threats as a whole, and oppose terrorism in any forms; economically, we should work together, to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and move the global economy towards a better future of developing in the direction of openness, inclusiveness, balance and win-win; culturally, we should respect the diversity of world civilization, surpass the estrangement of civilization by civilization exchange, surpass the conflict of civilization by mutual learning of civilization, surpass the superiority of civilization by civilization coexistence; ecologically, we should adhere to environmental friendliness, cooperate to tackle climate change, jointly preserve Planet Earth the only home we have.

The noble goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind is to build a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, cleanness and beauty.

Building a community with a shared future for mankind is the most effective weapon to defeat its common enemy. The virus is a common enemy of humanity. In fighting COVID-19, we can see that virus has no borders, no race, religion, faction or region, and

no country can insulate itself from a global challenge. The only way to defeat virus is to pull together with solidarity, which is the most effective weapons against the virus. All countries in the world are highly interdependent on each other. Humanity is in fact a community with a shared future. All nations live in the same global village. No matter what race, color and region they belong to, no matter in developed countries or developing countries, they coexist.

To build a community with a shared future for mankind requires people to support each other, work in unity and overcome difficulties together. No country by itself can solve the weak world economic growth, financial crisis, development gap, environmental pollution, climate change, refugee crisis, terrorism and so on. No country does not need the help of the international community. Global governance requires the solidarity of all countries.

The questions of survival, development and prosperity faced by mankind require the concerted efforts of all countries, to overcome the virus disaster needs the solidarity. We need the full help between you and me. We must not engage in zero-sum game, fight against each other, fight to the death and live.

China has always been an advocate, promoter and practitioner of building a community with a shared future for mankind. In the fight against the epidemic, China stands for the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, adheres to putting the people first, for nothing in the world is more precious than people’s lives, has always acted with openness, transparency and responsibility to resolutely prevent and control, and won the precious time for countries around the world to fight against the epidemic after making painstaking efforts and enormous sacrifice.

China actively carries out international cooperation to fight against the epidemic. We will resolutely oppose the politicization of the epidemic, the labelling of the virus and the stigmatization of the state, the theory of man-making responsibility, the theory of concealment, the theory of compensation and the theory of origin, and the actions that run counter to the building a community with a shared future for mankind. When the world is facing severe challenges of COVID-19, China actively provides the assistance of prevention to countries in the world and carrying out video conference on disease prevention with other countries.

At the 73rd WHA, President Xi Jinping, from the height of the joint building the community of human health, Called for helping developing countries, especially African countries with weaker public health systems, helping them build capacity must be our top priority in COVID-19 response, and the world needs to provide more material, technological personnel support for African countries. China has sent a tremendous amount of medical supplies and assistance to over 50 African countries and the African Union; China will work with the UN to set up a global humanitarian response depot and hub in China; China will establish a cooperation mechanism for its hospitals to pair up with 30 African hospitals and accelerate the building of the Africa CDC headquarters to help the continent ramp up its disease preparedness and control capacity.

In fact, in order to build a community with a shared further for mankind, the Belt and Road Initiatives was launched by China’s president Xi Jinping in 2013, which is the path and platform of building a community with a future for mankind. The BRI, form its general context, cooperation objectives, cooperation principles, cooperation measures and the vision for the future of realizing economic development, fully embodies the vision of building a community with a future for mankind.

Adhering to the path of peaceful development, actively carrying out dialogue and consultation, promoting synergizing connectivity of the development planning of all countries, 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of the UN, and Agenda 2063 of the African Union etc., building a world of peace and progress. Adhering to the principle of extensive, joint efforts and shared benefits, promoting the common development, cooperation and win-win, achieving rapid and effective circulation of goods, funds, technology and personnel, and building a world of common prosperity.

Adhering to mutual learning, promoting people-to-people exchanges and cultural exchanges, strengthening connectivity, and building a world of the open and inclusiveness.

The building a community with a shared future for mankind embodies the crystallization of human wisdom, carries the lofty ideals and unremitting pursuit of human beings for building a better world. It is the goal of the common struggle of all mankind and requires the joint efforts of people from all over the world. Let’s push forward the building a community with a shared future for mankind in the fight against the epidemic and make new progress to benefit the world and mankind!
