Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Banadir Regional Police have apprehended five individuals involved in producing and circulating a fabricated video on social media, which falsely depicted a plainclothes officer robbing an ice cream vendor.
Following swift investigations, authorities confirmed the video was deliberately staged with the intent to discredit and mislead the public about the conduct of security personnel. The five suspects are now in police custody and will be swiftly brought before the competent court for prosecution.
The Somali Police Force has warned the public against spreading unverified content, noting that such actions can undermine public trust and national security. Legal action will be taken against anyone found creating, recording, or distributing deceptive materials intended to damage the reputation of the security institutions.
