Mogadishu, December 30, 2024 – The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, presided over the approval ceremony for the 2025 Banaadir Regional Administration budget, which amounts to $101,274,078. The budget was presented today to various members of the administration.

Speaking at the event, Banaadir Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Issa Mahmoud Guure, emphasized that the 2025 budget was prepared with transparency and input from diverse community stakeholders. He urged members to approve the budget, highlighting its inclusivity.

Governor Amir welcomed the approval of the 2025 budget, which passed with a majority vote despite opposition from five members and abstentions from nine others. He praised the financial department staff for their diligent work and noted that the budget would play a critical role in advancing the development of Mogadishu.

The Mayor outlined key priorities for his administration, including promoting transparency, ensuring citizens in Banaadir can participate in one-person-one-vote elections, and creating a peaceful, clean, and green city. He stressed that these goals could be achieved through accountability and providing opportunities for the community.

Governor Amir reaffirmed his commitment to making the 2025 budget a cornerstone for Mogadishu’s progress and called on all stakeholders to work collaboratively toward the city’s transformation.
