Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre today received at his office Safiya Maallin Abdulle Omar and her son, Mohamed Issa Daahir, who ranked first in this year’s national secondary school examination.

H.E. Prime Minister Hamza congratulated Safiya for her dedication and efforts in raising her son, describing her as having earned first place among Somali mothers, while her son earned first place among Somali students. He said the achievement was the result of Safiya’s efforts and the commitment she devoted to her son’s education.

The Prime Minister noted that supporting and educating children is a particular priority for the Federal Government of Somalia, which seeks to achieve a knowledge- and skills-based transformation among Somali youth.

“If there is a competition, winning is not easy. You have reached this position through the effort and perseverance you have demonstrated and through the upbringing provided by your mother, Safiya. I am certain that many people with greater opportunities have been surpassed by you today. This demonstrates the efforts parents make for their children,” Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said.

H.E. Prime Minister Hamza rewarded Safiya with a formal government position in recognition of her valuable role as a mother, while her son, Mohamed Issa Daahir, was awarded a government-funded scholarship to study at the institution of his choice.
