Director of NISA Attends Graduation of Officers Trained in Terrorism Crime Investigation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), H.E. Mahad Mohamed Salad, attended the graduation ceremony of officers from NISA and the Somali Police Force who completed a one-year advanced training programme on criminal investigations, with a particular focus on terrorism-related crimes and crime-scene investigation.
Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Mahad emphasized that modern investigative techniques and the proper preservation of evidence are essential to strengthening national security and ensuring justice. He stressed the need for security institutions to have officers equipped with the knowledge and skills required to investigate crimes, collect evidence and verify information.
The officers received training in modern crime-scene investigation techniques, evidence collection and preservation, and methods for verifying information relevant to criminal investigations.
The programme was supported by the United States Government and delivered by international experts specialising in criminal investigations.
The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Brig. Gen. Asad Osman Abdullahi, Commander of the Somali Police Force; Col. Hassan Ali Nur Shuute, Chairman of the First Instance Court of the Armed Forces; and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Justin Davis.
The training forms part of Somalia’s efforts to strengthen professional, skilled and law-based security institutions capable of conducting credible and effective investigations.
