Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia’s National Independent Electoral And Boundaries Commission has officially announced the list of members of the House of Representatives elected in polls held on May 10 across 13 districts under Southwest State.
According to the commission, 92 lawmakers were declared winners, although the regional parliament is expected to have 95 seats. Electoral officials said the remaining three seats will be completed at a later stage.
The announcement came only hours after Somalia’s Supreme Court approved the results of the elections, paving the way for the next phase of the electoral process in the regional state.
The commission also confirmed that the presidential election in Southwest State will take place on June 10.
In addition to the list of elected representatives, the electoral body released details of the political parties that secured seats in the regional parliament.
The latest developments mark a significant step in the completion of Southwest State’s electoral process amid broader political attention on Somalia’s ongoing constitutional and electoral debates.
