BAIDOA, SOMALIA (SONNA) — The Interim Leader of South West State, H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji, convened a critical security synchronization meeting at the presidential palace in Baidoa with top military officials from the Somali National Army (SNA). The high-level talks focused entirely on intensifying offensive military operations against Al-Shabaab remnants and fortifying the security architecture of Baidoa and its immediate perimeters.
The defense delegation was led by the Assistant Chief of the SNA General Command, General Maadeey Nuureey Sheekh Ufurow, alongside the newly appointed Commander of the SNA 60th Division Infantry, Colonel Isaaq Bardaale. The executive session served as a tactical planning seminar following recent leadership transitions within the regional military command structure, directly aiming to harmonize state governance with offensive field operations.
Discussions centered on enhancing intelligence sharing, boosting joint civil-military cooperation, and expanding the defensive ring around the state capital to guarantee absolute stability. The regional leadership reviewed recent battlefield updates from ongoing clearance operations in the surrounding countryside, where SNA units have aggressively pursued militant cells to deny them staging grounds and break their logistical capability.
H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji emphasized that maintaining a secure environment in Baidoa is essential for regional commerce, humanitarian access, and institutional development. The newly installed military command reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating targeted sweeps across South West State, ensuring the complete disruption of asymmetric threats and stabilizing crucial transit corridors linking local markets to the rest of the federation.
