Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, chaired a key meeting focused on the submission of the proposed law governing district councils in the Banadir Region.
The meeting, attended by the ministry’s Director General Abdulqadir Ali and the Chairman of the National Refugees and IDPs Agency, Libaan, centered on finalizing the draft legislation intended to guide the administration of the recently elected local district councils.
According to officials, the proposed bill was developed through consultations involving political organizations, the National Independent Electoral Commission, and the Banadir Regional Administration, with the aim of establishing a formal legal framework defining the structure and operations of district councils.
The legislation also outlines the working relationship and responsibilities between the Banadir Regional Administration and its district councils in an effort to strengthen administrative transparency and improve public service delivery.
