Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, received a delegation led by Ms. Marit Fikke from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) in Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on the worsening drought conditions across Somalia, which have now spread to more than 74 districts, leaving affected communities in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
Ms. Marit Fikke commended SoDMA’s continued efforts, particularly its emergency response operations aimed at assisting communities impacted by drought and other natural disasters.
Commissioner Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle expressed gratitude to the Government of Norway for its continued support to Somalia, especially in humanitarian assistance, noting that Norway remains a strategic partner standing alongside Somalia. He also voiced hope for further strengthening cooperation between the two sides.
