MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of China have officially launched the China Research and Modernization Center within the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Inaugurated on Wednesday, this facility operates as a dedicated intelligence and academic hub designed to accelerate bilateral coordination and joint policy development.
The executive launch ceremony was jointly directed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Hamza Hadow, and the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Wang Yu. Establishing this center represents a calculated maneuver to integrate advanced geopolitical research directly into Mogadishu’s foreign policy apparatus. The facility will drive collaborative studies on strategic international affairs, expanding mutual understanding and aligning long-term diplomatic objectives between the two republics.
Operating as the primary training and research command for the Ministry, the Diplomatic Institute will utilize this new center to aggressively upgrade the analytical capabilities of Somali diplomats. By embedding Chinese modernization models and strategic research into the curriculum, the Federal Government ensures its foreign service personnel are highly equipped to navigate complex global markets and execute high-level international engagements. This structural upgrade firmly positions Somalia to maximize its diplomatic leverage across Asian and global economic corridors.
