MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), operating in close coordination with international security partners, successfully executed four targeted military operations this week, resulting in the elimination of more than 23 Al-Shabaab militants. The preemptive strikes spanned multiple locations across the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. These precision operations were strategically designed to dismantle active militant cells that were in the advanced stages of planning coordinated attacks against civilian and government targets within the Hirshabelle State.
The tactical interventions were initiated following the acquisition of highly actionable intelligence. NISA operatives identified a substantial mobilization of extremist fighters in the Waab-weyn and Goobo areas, located within the Mahas district. This specific militant formation was operating under the command of a known insurgent leader identified as Mustaf Caato. Concurrently, intelligence units tracked and disrupted a secondary gathering of hostile forces in the Maxaa Saciid area of the Middle Shabelle region, preventing their deployment into populated districts.
During the late hours of the night, the operation reached its latest phase with a decisive strike on an entrenched insurgent camp in the Moqokori district of Hiiraan. This facility primarily housed members of the group’s extortion and internal enforcement wing, commonly referred to as the Hisbah. The destruction of this base neutralized key operatives who were instrumental in orchestrating imminent terror activities across the Hiiraan corridor, severely degrading the group’s operational capacity and logistical footprint in the area.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency maintains a heightened state of operational readiness, actively reinforcing preventative security measures to secure national stability. In a direct appeal to the public, security officials are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information regarding extremist networks. Residents are encouraged to contact NISA directly through the secure national hotlines at 199, 0770747474, or 0620545454 to assist in the ongoing eradication of terrorist elements.
