Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Somali National Army conducted a planned security operation targeting Al-Shabaab terrorists hiding in the Hawaadley area of Middle Shabelle.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements responsible for insecurity in areas along the Shabelle River. Hawaadley, which falls under the administration of Jowhar, is a strategic location vital to transportation routes and connectivity between communities in the region.
Security forces are carrying out house-to-house searches to ensure no Al-Shabaab terrorists are sheltering in residential areas. Authorities have also tightened security along key roads to guarantee the safety of civilians and vehicles.
Military officials leading the operation said the objective is to restore stability, dismantle terrorist hideouts, and prevent the group from regrouping. The operation is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s broader strategy to strengthen security, particularly in the country’s central regions.
