MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Head of the Hajj Affairs Office at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Khadar Haji Dahir, has officially announced the implementation of a new contractual framework for the upcoming pilgrimage season. This initiative introduces a mandatory service agreement between aspiring pilgrims and the operating travel agencies, marking a distinct improvement in the management of Hajj logistics.
In his briefing, Dr. Khadar detailed that the introduction of this new agreement is designed to formalize the obligations of the service providers. The contract explicitly outlines the standards of service that companies must deliver, covering essential aspects such as accommodation, transportation, and on-ground support in the Holy Lands. The official noted that this measure is intended to eliminate ambiguity and ensure that Somali citizens receive the full value of the packages they purchase.
The Ministry emphasized that this year’s addition to the Hajj process is a strategic move to safeguard the rights of the pilgrims. By mandating a signed agreement that specifies the quality and scope of services, the Federal Government aims to increase accountability within the sector. Dr. Khadar affirmed that the Ministry will rigorously monitor compliance with these contracts to ensure a safe, dignified, and well-organized pilgrimage experience for all Somali nationals.
