MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, officially inaugurated the annual Ramadan knowledge competition broadcast on the National Media on Wednesday evening. The highly anticipated intellectual tournament is designed to bring together communities from across the country to celebrate learning and heritage during the holy month.
This year’s expanded edition features the active participation of 32 districts representing various regions of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The opening broadcast commenced with an engaging match between Las Anod district from the Sool region and Karan district from the Banadir region. The tournament serves as a strategic platform to foster national unity, promote general education, and encourage intellectual growth among the youth and the broader public.
The grand opening ceremony drew the attendance of key dignitaries and partners, including the Deputy Governor for Social Affairs of the Banadir Regional Administration. Furthermore, senior officials representing IBS Bank, a primary sponsor of the event, were present to support the educational initiative, adding a distinct level of prestige and competitive excitement to this year’s national programming.
In his opening address, Minister Daud Aweis extended his best wishes to all the competing districts and commended the organizers, hosts, and presenters of the program. He strongly emphasized the critical importance of intellectual competition, noting that prioritizing knowledge, critical thinking, and education is an essential foundation for the advancement of the nation and the long-term prosperity of the Somali people.
