Addis Ababa, SONNA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is on an official visit to Addis Ababa today, aimed at boosting Ankara’s bilateral relations with African nations.
During his visit, President Erdoğan and his delegation are scheduled to meet with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with agreements expected to be signed and a joint press conference to follow, according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency.
Turkish media reports, including the Daily Sabah, noted that an earlier planned one-day visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was canceled. The trip is part of President Erdoğan’s broader diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region and enhance Ankara’s engagement with Africa.
The reports highlighted that during his engagements, President Erdoğan will address the importance of protecting Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity. This comes after his visits to Egypt and Saudi Arabia earlier this month, reflecting Ankara’s continued diplomatic outreach across the region.
