Mogadishu, (SONNA) — A high-level coordination meeting was held to discuss the implementation of road construction within Aden Adde International Airport and the development of a modern drainage system to improve overall airport operations.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Omar Ali Afrah, and was attended by the Airport Manager Abdinasir Gurey, Deputy Airport Manager Da’uud Ahmedey, as well as Directors from the Planning Department and the Airports Development Department.
Also participating in the meeting were officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Reconstruction, the Banadir Regional Administration, and the UNOPS.
During the meeting, detailed plans and designs were presented for internal airport roads and the construction of a high-quality drainage system. The proposed infrastructure upgrades aim to enhance the airport’s aesthetics, security, and the smooth delivery of services.
Officials unanimously emphasized the strategic importance of the project in strengthening economic infrastructure and improving the quality of services at the airport. The initiative forms part of the broader Nagaad Project, which is supported by the World Bank.
The project is expected to significantly contribute to the modernization and resilience of Somalia’s aviation infrastructure.
