Mogadishu, SONNA — United States forces on Tuesday traveled to the Middle Shabelle region to deliver weapons, including heavy equipment, to the Somali National Army (SNA), reinforcing ongoing cooperation aimed at countering terrorism and strengthening national security.
The delivery underscores the continued support of the United States for its Somali partners in the fight against terrorist groups that threaten regional stability and endanger the lives of civilians, as well as the security interests of both Somalis and Americans.
The support forms part of broader international efforts to enhance the capacity, readiness, and effectiveness of the Somali National Armed Forces as they continue operations against extremist elements across the country.
In a statement accompanying the delivery, the Somali National Armed Forces reiterated their resolve, noting that terrorist elements cannot evade the reach of Somalia’s security institutions. The United States also reaffirmed its position on sustaining counter-terrorism efforts.
We will eradicate terrorist elements and sustain counter-terrorism operations until lasting peace and stability are secured across the country,” the United States said.
Somali authorities have emphasized that continued partnership with international allies remains vital in advancing security gains, protecting civilians, and restoring peace and stability throughout Somalia.
