Baidoa, SONNA — A senior delegation from Somalia’s Independent Electoral and National Boundaries Commission (IENBC) has arrived in Baidoa as part of ongoing efforts to assess electoral preparedness and strengthen the country’s democratic process.
The delegation, led by the Commissioner Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan, includes Commissioner Yusuf Abdukadir Mohamed and the Secretary of the Commission, Hussein Nunow Ali. The team arrived today in Baidoa, the capital of Bay Region.
The visit forms part of an inspection and consultation mission aimed at reviewing electoral activities and assessing the readiness of institutions and stakeholders ahead of upcoming democratic processes.
During their stay in Baidoa, the Commissioner and his delegation are scheduled to hold a series of meetings with senior officials of the South West State Government. The consultations will begin with President of South West State, H.E. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed “Laftagareen,” focusing on accelerating electoral preparations, coordination, and implementation of agreed democratic frameworks.
The visit underscores the Commission’s commitment to inclusive consultation, institutional coordination, and ensuring a credible, transparent, and nationally owned electoral process across Somalia.
