Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has carried out a planned security operation in the Maxaa Saciid area of Middle Shabelle region, targeting a house where senior leaders of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group were holding a meeting. The operation resulted in the killing of 13 militants, including five senior commanders.
According to NISA, the targeted leaders were convening to plan terrorist attacks and to coerce local residents into providing forced support. The national intelligence services thwarted these plans by neutralizing the group and dismantling their ongoing activities in the area.
The commanders killed in the operation were identified as Macallin Caseyr, Macallin Muxumed Ahmed Hassan, Sheikh Ali Guuraale, Abdirahman Sheikh Ali (Abdirahman Dhegey), and Macallin Caadey. These individuals were responsible for coordinating terrorist operations in the Middle Shabelle, Galgaduud, and Bay regions.
In addition, eight militants—including three commanders—were seriously wounded during the operation. The injured commanders were named as Ali Macallin Hassan, Abdullahi Muxudiin Mohamed Rooble (Bukuri), and Abdirahman Ahmed Diini.
NISA has once again urged civilians to stay away from areas where Al-Shabaab militants are present, noting that such locations remain legitimate targets of national security forces. Members of the public are encouraged to report any security threats or information related to Al-Shabaab or ISIS to NISA through the following hotlines: 199 / 0770747474 / 0620545454.
