ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh, led a high-level delegation to Islamabad for a strategic meeting with the leadership of Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The discussions centered on advancing the technological cooperation between the two nations, specifically regarding the development and management of Somalia’s national identity infrastructure.

The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Mr. Abdiwali Ali Abdulle (Timacadde). The primary objective of the meeting was to review and strengthen the existing partnership in the field of digital identity management. During the talks, the Somali delegation highlighted the critical role NADRA has played in supporting the establishment and operationalization of NIRA, acknowledging this collaboration as a major achievement in Somalia’s efforts to create a modern and unified civil registry.

Both parties engaged in detailed discussions regarding the continuation of technical cooperation and institutional capacity building. The dialogue focused on establishing mechanisms for the exchange of expertise to ensure the integrity and security of Somalia’s national identity systems. The officials emphasized that a robust identification framework is essential for improving the quality and accessibility of public services for the Somali population, ensuring that every citizen is accurately documented and able to exercise their rights.

This high-level engagement in Islamabad reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships to modernize its administrative capabilities. By working closely with global leaders in database management like NADRA, Somalia aims to accelerate its digital transformation agenda and secure the foundational data necessary for national development and security.
