Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has issued a message to the Somali people—particularly residents of the capital—following the successful conclusion of today’s historic elections.
The Prime Minister congratulated citizens on what he described as a new chapter in Somalia’s history, praising voters for their patience, resilience, and courage in exercising their democratic rights.
“Congratulations to you all for writing a new chapter in our history. You have demonstrated patience, determination, and bravery. Today, you reclaimed rights that had been lost or absent for more than 56 years—the right to freely choose your leaders or to be chosen. Through your votes, you have expressed your will and placed the country firmly on the path of democracy and freedom,” Prime Minister Hamza said.
He also announced that the Somali people can expect positive and encouraging news in the near future regarding the country’s ongoing development and progress.
