Cairo(SONNA)- Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, represented the country at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, held in Cairo, Egypt, from 19 to 20 December.
During the conference, Minister Abdisalam highlighted Somalia’s foreign policy priorities and underscored the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation to address global and regional challenges. He stressed that complex international issues cannot be resolved through unilateral measures, but require collective action grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and adherence to international law.
The Somali foreign minister emphasized that achieving lasting peace and stability in Africa depends on an integrated approach that links security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance. He noted that coordinated international support is essential to help African countries, including Somalia, overcome conflict, climate-related challenges, and economic disruptions.
Minister Abdisalam reaffirmed Somalia’s support for the Russia–Africa partnership, describing it as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation. He called for a more just and balanced international system, predictable development financing, and improved access to modern technology to support sustainable development and climate resilience across the continent.
The two-day conference focused on enhancing strategic cooperation between Russia and African states in areas such as diplomacy, trade, security, and economic development, providing Somalia with an opportunity to engage with partners on shared priorities and future collaboration.
