MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, has emphasized the indispensable role that Somali Islamic scholars play in the nation’s ongoing efforts toward peace and reconstruction.

Speaking at the National Media Weekly Meeting in Mogadishu, Minister Robow reflected on the country’s trajectory over the past three decades. He noted that religious scholars have consistently been visible and active at the forefront of mediation efforts, successfully reconciling clans and contributing significantly to the rebuilding of the Somali state during its most challenging periods.

Addressing the relationship between the government and the religious community, the Minister issued a strong assurance of inclusivity. He clarified that the Federal Government does not favor one group over another.

“All scholars are equal to us, and there is no specific group that is being marginalized or discriminated against,” Minister Robow stated.

The Minister also addressed the etiquette of public discourse, particularly regarding the use of digital platforms. He advised that sincere counsel and constructive advice regarding governance should be conveyed through appropriate, dignified channels. He warned against the use of social media to exchange inflammatory rhetoric or “harmful words” that could sow division rather than improve governance.

Concluding his remarks, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow reaffirmed the Ministry’s primary mission: to unify the diverse spectrum of Somali scholars. He pledged that the Ministry stands ready to facilitate their collective work, ensuring that the religious community remains a cohesive force dedicated to serving the Somali people and the nation’s interests.
