Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Bashir Yusuf Ahmed, participated in the Annual Forum of Chief Justices of East African Countries, held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting focused on advancing people-centered justice, exploring modern judicial practices, and enhancing alternative justice mechanisms beyond conventional civil court processes.
Regional Chief Justices exchanged experience, innovative approaches, and new models aimed at expanding access to justice. Discussions centered on shared challenges across East African countries, including legal harmonization, public awareness, judicial capacity-building, the use of technology, and the sustainability of new justice systems.
The forum concluded with an agreement to draft a joint communiqué outlining regional priorities, collective commitments, and practical steps to strengthen accessible and people-focused justice across East Africa.
