Mogadishu, SONNA — The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Macallin Mahmoud, on Monday opened a two-day workshop focused on finalizing the Draft Law on International Judicial Cooperation.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ), brought together members of the Justice, Religious Affairs, and Endowments Committees from both Houses of Parliament, representatives from the Office of the Attorney General, parliamentary staff, and legal experts from the ministry.
The draft legislation aims to strengthen Somalia’s cooperation with regional and international partners, particularly in combating transnational crime, facilitating the exchange of evidence, and advancing the country’s justice system.
Officials emphasized that once completed, the law will play a key role in enhancing cross-border legal collaboration and supporting Somalia’s broader justice sector reforms.
