Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia today held the fourth joint session of their sixth meeting, chaired by the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, alongside the Second Deputy Speaker of the Senate.
The session opened with a quorum of 139 members of the House of the People and 28 Senators present. The main agenda was the first reading of the 2026 national budget bill prepared by the Ministry of Finance.
Deputy Minister of Finance, Cabdiqafaar Hassan Xaange, presented the first reading of the 2026 national budget report to members of both Houses, outlining its key components and allocations.
Closing the session, Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow instructed the finance committees of both Houses to prepare the second reading of the budget for parliamentary debate in the coming sessions.
