Mogadishu, SONNA – The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madobe), and the Speaker of the Upper House, H.E. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, held a joint meeting with the Chairmen of the Constitutional Oversight and Review Committees of both Houses of Parliament, along with the leadership of the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission (ICRIC).
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made in the constitutional review process and finalizing the remaining chapters of Somalia’s Provisional Constitution — a critical step toward completing the nation’s constitutional framework.
During the session, MP Hussein Idow, Chairman of the Constitutional Oversight and Review Committee, and Avv. Burhaan Aden Omar, Commissioner of the ICRIC, presented detailed updates to the Speakers on the current status of the review and the implementation roadmap for the remaining chapters.
The two Speakers commended the committees for their continued dedication and service to the Somali people, stressing the importance of completing the constitutional review as a foundation for good governance and national stability.
Speaker Madobe and Speaker Abdi Hashi encouraged the committees to accelerate their efforts, reaffirming Parliament’s commitment to concluding the constitutional review process in the interest of the nation’s unity and democratic progress.
