MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Daud Aweis Jama, held a significant meeting at his office with the heads of various departments within the ministry.
The purpose of the meeting was to formally commend the officials for their diligent and professional work during the recent 25th-anniversary commemoration of the Arta Conference, which took place in Djibouti.
Minister Aweis specifically praised the national artists, particularly the renowned Waaberi musical troupe, and other cultural sections for their outstanding performances and contributions that enriched the commemorative events.
The Minister noted that both the state-run and private media outlets demonstrated remarkable dedication in their extensive coverage of the Arta Conference anniversary, ensuring its historical significance was properly conveyed to the Somali people and the world.
Looking ahead, Minister Aweis urged all media and cultural professionals to redouble their efforts and play a visible, leading role in advancing critical national objectives. He highlighted three key areas requiring their focused support:
- The ongoing national campaign against the ‘Khawarij’ extremist group.
- The upcoming national elections.
- The wider processes of state-building and institutional development.
The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism was central to the organization and successful implementation of the 25th-anniversary events for the Arta Conference, which is widely recognized as the foundational moment of the Third Somali Republic.
