Mogadishu, SONNA – The Budget, Finance, Planning, International Cooperation, and Accountability Committee of the House of the People convened a consultative meeting with representatives from commercial banks and private money transfer companies at Villa Hargeisa. The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, MP Abdi Ibrahim Warsame (Qowdhan).
The discussion focused on the National Payment Bill, currently under review by the committee. Representatives from the banking and financial sector shared their insights and recommendations on the bill’s provisions, emphasizing its importance for strengthening Somalia’s financial system and promoting a more secure, transparent, and efficient payment infrastructure.
In his closing remarks, Chairman Abdi Ibrahim Warsame (Qowdhan) expressed his gratitude to the participants for their constructive input and reiterated the committee’s commitment to continued consultations.
As a committee, we will continue to hold consultative meetings with the ministries and agencies concerned with the laws under our review,” said Chairman Warsame.
The National Payment Bill is a key legislative initiative aimed at modernizing Somalia’s financial regulatory framework and supporting the country’s economic reform agenda.
