Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, held a productive meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The talks focused on expanding collaboration in key sectors including media, culture, and the arts, as part of broader efforts to enhance the longstanding relationship between Somalia and China.
Minister Jama commended the Government of China for its continued support toward Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and development. He highlighted China’s role in implementing various development projects that contribute to the country’s reconstruction and progress.
The minister also underscored the importance of reinforcing cooperation in media and cultural development, with particular emphasis on the restoration and advancement of the National Theatre of Somalia, a vital institution for promoting Somali arts, culture, and heritage.
Discussions further addressed strengthening ties between media institutions in both countries, including professional exchanges, journalist training, and the development of media infrastructure. These efforts aim to support the Somali government’s initiatives in public awareness, national unity, and the modernization of the media sector.
Ambassador Wang Yu, for his part, outlined China’s ongoing humanitarian and development projects in Somalia, reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to deepening cooperation in media, culture, and the arts. He emphasized the importance of fostering the historic friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.
