Danab Commandos Kill Seven Al-Shabaab Militants in Lower Shabelle Operation

Mogadishu(SONNA)- Specially trained Danab Commandos of the Somali National Armed Forces carried out a planned overnight operation in Sablaale District, Lower Shabelle, targeting locations occupied by Al-Shabaab militants, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The operation, conducted shortly after midnight, resulted in the deaths of seven Al-Shabaab militants, including a commander whom authorities said was involved in mobilising fighters for the group.

Military officials said the forces also destroyed two sites allegedly used by Al-Shabaab for training recruits and disseminating extremist ideology. According to the Ministry of Defence, the facilities were used to radicalise individuals and encourage acts of terrorism.

The Ministry of Defence and the Command of the Somali National Armed Forces said they remain committed to sustaining operations against Al-Shabaab's leadership, fighters and infrastructure as part of ongoing efforts to weaken the militant group and improve security across Somalia.

The government did not report any casualties among Somali security forces during the operation. Al-Shabaab had not publicly commented on the operation at the time of publication, and the reported details could not be independently verified.
