MOGADISHU – The Office of the Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Somalia has announced the passing of former Attorney General, the late Abdullahi Dahir Bare, who died last night in Mogadishu. The current Attorney General, Hon. Sulayman Mohamed, along with officials and staff of the office, extended condolences to the family, relatives, and the Somali public.
The late Abdullahi Dahir Bare was born in 1940 in Luuq District, Gedo Region. He was among the first generation of Somali judges, joining the nation’s judiciary on April 17, 1967.
A long-serving public servant, the deceased held several critical judicial and legal posts throughout his career, which spanned various administrations:
- Chairman of the Beletweyne District Court
- Chairman of the Hargeisa District Court
- Chairman of the Togdheer Regional Court
- Chairman of the Benadir Regional Court
- Attorney General of the Nation during the administrations of President Abdullahi Yusuf and President Sheikh Sharif
The former Attorney General played a positive role in the rehabilitation of the country’s justice and judiciary systems, serving the Somali people diligently since the civilian government era in 1967.
The current Attorney General prayed for the late Abdullahi Dahir Bare to be granted mercy in Paradise and for his family and loved ones to be granted patience and faith.
