ASWAN, EGYPT (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, currently on a working visit to Egypt, held a bilateral meeting today with the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Dr. Annette Weber.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Aswan Forum, focused on reinforcing bilateral cooperation, continued security support, and reviewing the significant progress achieved by Somalia across political, economic, and security sectors.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister highlighted the key achievements of the “DanQaran” government over the past three years. These accomplishments include stabilizing the security of the capital, Mogadishu, the intensive fight against the Khawaarij extremist groups, the comprehensive rebuilding of the National Army, and notable progress in economic development, politics, and the enhancement of public services.
Prime Minister Barre also addressed the government’s efforts regarding the AUSSOM transition process and the vital international support required to ensure a smooth and successful handover of security responsibilities.
For her part, the EU Special Representative, Dr. Annette Weber, commended the effective results achieved by the Somali government in recent years. She affirmed that the European Union remains committed to strengthening and increasing its support for Somalia’s stability and development agenda.
