Geneva, (SONNA) — The delegation led by the Minister of Family and Human Rights Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held a series of productive meetings with ambassadors from friendly nations in support of Somalia’s campaign to regain its independent management of national human rights responsibilities — a mandate the country has been without for over three decades.
The Minister met with H.E. Naser Abdullah Alhayen, Ambassador of Kuwait; H.E. Dr. Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Ambassador of Qatar; and H.E. Burak Akçapar, Ambassador of Türkiye.
The discussions highlighted the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and enhancing Somalia’s role in global human rights governance. As the upcoming vote approaches on October 8, the Somali delegation expressed optimism that the country will take a historic step toward restoring full national ownership of its human rights mandate.
