Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali Police Force has issued a stern warning against defamation and insults targeting national leaders, as well as violations against Islamic values, following the arrest of youths recently spreading offensive content on social media.

Police Spokesperson Captain Abdi Fitah Aden Hassan, speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu today, stated that anyone found engaging in defamation, insults, or actions that undermine religion and Somali culture will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“Anyone using social media is urged to refrain from sharing content that violates our Islamic faith and Somali values. From today onwards, those caught committing such acts will face legal consequences,” the Spokesperson said.

He also thanked the Somali Police Command for apprehending individuals accused of insulting national leaders and spreading indecent content, noting that the suspects are in custody and will be brought before the justice system.

The Office of the Attorney General had earlier warned that legal measures would be taken against those who misuse social media platforms to engage in acts contrary to ethics, religion, and the law.
