Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Ma’allin Fiqi, hosted a luncheon in Mogadishu for the African Union’s Special Representative for Somalia, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene. The event served as a gesture of goodwill and a platform to strengthen the collaborative efforts between Somalia and the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

The luncheon, held at a central location in the capital, was attended by key officials, including the National Security Advisor, Aweys Haji Yusuf Ahmed, and other dignitaries. The gathering highlights the ongoing dialogue and partnership aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region.

Before the formal luncheon, Minister Fiqi and the AUSSOM delegation demonstrated a shared commitment to cultural and religious unity by joining for Friday prayers at the Ali Jimale Mosque in the city. This act underscores the deep-rooted relationship and mutual respect between the Somali government and its international partners.

The meeting between Minister Fiqi and Ambassador Diene is part of a broader push to coordinate and streamline security operations, ensuring that the transition of security responsibilities to Somali forces is conducted seamlessly and effectively. The ongoing cooperation with AUSSOM is crucial for achieving Somalia’s long-term security and development goals. The discussions at the event likely focused on operational strategies, resource allocation, and logistical support to enable the Somali National Army to secure key areas and maintain peace. The presence of high-level officials from both sides signals a powerful stride toward a more secure and prosperous future for Somalia and the entire region.
