Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali authorities on Monday executed Anas Abdulqadir Ali Mahmoud “Salman” and Aden Mursal Mohamed Iidow, members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, who were convicted of carrying out bombings and targeted killings.
The convicts had been apprehended for their involvement in a series of security incidents across Somalia. The Military Court found them guilty of grave crimes, including:
- Planned assassinations and bomb attacks targeting civilians and government officials.
- Direct involvement in the terrorist attack in Gaalkacyo, Puntland, which claimed the lives of prominent community leaders, including elders and traditional figures.
- Active participation in atrocities and intimidation against the civilian population.
After hearing compelling evidence and witness testimonies, the Military Court sentenced them to death by firing squad — a ruling that was today carried out.
