Mogadishu, Somalia, SONNA – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmud Ma’allin Abdulle, hosted the Vice President of Galmudug State, Mr. Ali Dahir Idd, at the agency’s headquarters. Their meeting focused on pressing humanitarian concerns and strategies for economic advancement in the region.
The discussions primarily centered on the severe humanitarian conditions affecting parts of Galmudug, particularly areas near the Ethiopian border. The Vice President highlighted that many residents face dire living conditions and require urgent assistance. He appealed for immediate humanitarian aid to be dispatched to these vulnerable communities.
During the meeting, Mr. Ali Dahir Idd also emphasized the critical importance of fostering local economic development. He specifically noted the significant livestock opportunities present in Galmudug. He proposed the establishment of a modern facility for slaughtering and preserving livestock meat, asserting that such an initiative would substantially contribute to economic growth and job creation for the local populace.
For his part, Commissioner Mahmud Ma’allin Abdulle pledged SoDMA’s prompt delivery of aid to the affected populations. He conveyed SoDMA’s readiness to collaborate with the Galmudug administration on implementing the proposed livestock factory project. He also indicated that these efforts would be supported through international cooperation and with the assistance of Somalia’s partner governments.
Ultimately, this meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the federal government and regional states. The goal is to enhance responses to humanitarian crises and ensure the equitable delivery of essential services to all vulnerable Somali communities.
