Mogadishu, (SONNA) — In a targeted overnight operation, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, conducted a successful counter-terrorism mission at the Gaycad Junction in the Mabaax area of Hiiraan region, eliminating 13 members of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
The operation which was executed in two consecutive waves, struck a known gathering point for the militants who were reportedly regrouping to plan attacks against civilians. Among those killed were fugitives and senior operatives previously targeted in the same area.
All weapons and equipment in the militants’ possession were destroyed during the raid, effectively disrupting their plans and operational capabilities.
NISA reaffirms its commitment to pursuing Al-Shabaab elements wherever they may attempt to regroup, and to safeguarding the Somali people from terror threats across the country.
